Success of Polish beach handball team in Porto Santo
BHT Petra Płock, a beach handball team, won at the EHF Champions Cup. Matches were played from October 20 to 23 on the Portuguese island of Porto Santo. We will also have an opportunity to admire best players' skills at the EG2023 in Tarnów.
A total of 16 teams took part in the EHF Beach Handball Champions Cup, held in Portugal. Petra Płock team advanced in the first round, after defeating the Spanish, Portuguese and Norwegians. The second phase of the championship was unlucky for the Płock team, as this time it was the Swedes who proved better, beating the Poles 1:2.
Subsequent matches brought victory to Petra, as a result of which the team advanced to the quarterfinals from the first place, where they met the Germans and... again it ended with Poland's victory. In the semi-finals of the tournament, the Płock players defeated the defenders of the title, the Spanish Malaga team, and in the grand finals also the Hungarian Salgótarjáni Strandépitök BHC, ending the match with a score of 2:0.
The European Championship is the biggest success in the club's 10-year history. BHT Petra Płock players include: Marcin Miedziński, Filip Koper, Jarosław Suski, Marcin Smolarek, Miłosz Rupp, Patryk Orędowicz, Michał Kwiatkowski, Jakub Nowakowski, Jakub Goleniewski, Krystian Matusiak and Bartosz Wojdak.
The beach handball tournament will also be held at the European Games Kraków-Małopolska 2023. 192 athletes will take part, and it will last 3 days - starting June 20 in Tarnów.
