The contest for the mascot of the European Games has started

A very important step for the Organizing Committee of the Krakow-Małopolska 2023 European Games, in which young sports fans will help. On Monday in Krakow, a contest for the mascot of the Games was announced. There are attractive prizes to be won related to next year's event.
Choosing a mascot that will be a symbol of a large event is a very important decision. Symbolism in sports is crucial. The mascot - if it hits the fans' tastes - makes the memory of the event live for many months after the end of the sports competition.

The Games connect generations

Now it's time for Kraków and Małopolska. On Monday, a contest was announced for the design of the mascot of the European Games Krakow-Małopolska 2023. Until the end of September, the organizers are waiting for the works of children and young people aged 5-15. The design or drawing of the mascot should be related to the idea of ​​the European Games Krakow-Małopolska 2023 or Olympism, but also have elements associated with the city and the host region.

- If I was a little younger, I would be happy to take part in the contest myself - convinces the President of the Organizing Committee, Marcin Nowak. - I would not belittle the role of the mascot, because it is often the mascot that remains in the mind as a trace of a big event. We are convinced that our fans will fulfill all tasks and we will be inundated with great projects. And one of them will be implemented at the end - he adds.

Details of the contest were announced on Monday at the headquarters of the Organizing Committee.

Patrycja Czak, the director of the promotion and marketing department of the Organizing Committee, emphasizes that the mascot is one of the most important image and communication elements of next year's event. - By putting its concept into the hands of our youngest fans, we want to show that the European Games Krakow-Małopolska 2023 is an event that connects not only fans, but all generations. We keep our fingers crossed for the participants of the contest and we are already looking forward to the project that best reflects the specificity of the event and our colorful region - he says.

Attractive prizes

The contest will run from September 1 at 12:00 to 30 September 2022 to 12:00. The design / drawing should be sent to the address of the seat of the company Igrzyska Europejskie Sp. z o.o. or by e-mail konkurs@ie2023.pl along with completed forms constituting attachments to the regulations.

The winner will receive attractive prizes, which include:

• entry to the opening and closing ceremony of the European Games Krakow-Małopolska 2023 with a mascot,

• VIP tickets for the ceremony for the family (maximum 4 people),

• a package of official IE2023 gadgets,

• a personalized mascot inspired by the design.

The organizers are also planning gadgets for the first hundred people who will send their works. These will be gifts related to the European Games.
The event will take place at the turn of June and July 2023. The hosts of the Games will be the city of Krakow and the Małopolska Region. The opening ceremony will take place on June 21 at the Municipal Stadium in Krakow. On the same site, on July 2, the Games will be officially closed. The European Games are twelve days of sports competition at the highest European level. Athletes will compete at venues in Kraków, Krynica Zdrój, Tarnów, Zakopane, Chorzów and Wrocław.
