The European Games Kraków – Małopolska 2023 are fast approaching. The event will start on June 21, 2023 at the City Stadium in Kraków. On Tuesday in Zakopane, as part of the European Congress of Sport and Tourism, the official program of the Games was presented.
The competition will take place in eleven cities. Krakow will host the most sports, and also the opening and closing ceremonies of the Games. Athletes will also compete at facilities in Chorzów, Krynica-Zdrój, Zakopane, Nowy Targ, Tarnów, Wrocław, Rzeszów, Oświęcim, Nowy Sącz and Krzeszowice.
– Ahead of us is the biggest sporting event in Europe next year and in the history of Poland. – said on Tuesday in Zakopane Minister of Sport and Tourism Kamil Bortniczuk.
The Marshal of the Malopolska Region Witold Kozłowski didn’t hide his satisfaction with the state of preparations for the event.
– The road was very winding and bumpy. The establishment of the Ministry of Sport and Tourism turned out to be a big impulse and Minister Kamil Bortniczuk significantly helped us to increase the pace of work on preparations for the Games. The further road may no longer be winding, but still bumpy. If only because tender procedures are very difficult nowadays – said the Marshal.
The program of the Games was presented by the President of the Organizing Committee of the Games Marcin Nowak. – Why do we organize the Games mainly in Małopolska? Because in Poland there is no other region so beautiful and rich in sports infrastructure. During the preparation of the program, we focused on using the existing facilities as effectively as possible – he argued.
